A Foedus Orientalis Kulturális Egyesület felkérésére Barta Balázs, fém-ötvös restaurátorművész, ötvös-aranyműves elkészítette a zemplén–szélmalomdombi vezérsírból előkerült csésze rekonstrukcióját. A csésze készítése során nem mindenhol ragaszkodott a modern technika által kínált könnyebb megoldásokhoz annak érdekében, hogy a végeredmény minél közelebb legyen az egykori valósághoz.

In 2020 Balázs Barta goldsmith, restorer made a reconstruction of the Zemplén cup, after examining the cup’s galvanoplasty copy in the Ponitranske Museum. In many cases he tried to follow ancient techniques: instead of using a lathe to get the form of the cup, he used a hammer and wooden form to achive the desired result. During the chasing (embossing) Barta followed the original pattern as punctual as possible: he copied the pattern mistakes of the original as well. In the polishing process he choose an older, more time consuming methold. But instead of fire gilding, what would be the authentic method, he used galvanic technique to make the gilding. We do not have knowledge about the gilding of the cup’s inside surface, nonetheless Barta gilded the interior of the reconstruction as well.
